Home watch in the Verde Valley: Cottonwood, Cornville, Camp Verde and Village of Oak Creek

Many owners of second homes in the Verde Valley live out of state for part of the year. Homes in Cottonwood, Cornville, Camp Verde, Village of Oak Creek, and around Sedona face the same questions: who checks on the house, who can send photos, and who can get a vendor inside while you are away. This guide explains how home watch works across the Verde Valley and what to ask before you choose someone.

Who home watch is for

Home watch tends to fit owners in the Verde Valley who are:

  • Seasonal residents who leave for part of the year
  • Second-home and vacation-home owners who live out of state
  • Short-term rental owners who want checks between guest stays
  • Owners of a home that sits empty while it is listed or being sold

What a visit can cover

Visits are visual and depend on the plan and the accessible areas. They can include:

  • Doors, windows, and locks for signs of entry or damage
  • Visible signs of water leaks, stains, or moisture
  • That cooling or heating is running at the setting you want
  • Pests, debris, mail, packages, and notices left at the property
  • Photos and notes sent to you after each visit

Questions to ask any home watch provider

Whoever you choose, ask about:

  • How often they visit and what exactly they check
  • What you receive after each visit, and how fast
  • Insurance, and whether they hold a key or access code
  • Who they call and who you hear from if something is wrong
  • Whether they offer vendor coordination when something needs fixing
